There are a lot of superlatives that can justly be applied to this contemporary musical from Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey, the winners of the 2009 Pulitzer Prize in drama, but surely no other musical has better caught the way we all now try to shove our family time into smaller and smaller boxes, ever more fractured, Blackberry-interrupted segments.

Their show, titled "Feeling Electric" at the time, was workshopped as a 10-minute musical in New York, expanded and tried out in a Seattle suburb four years later, all but abandoned for a while, retitled and mounted off-Broadway in 2008 and then substantially revised before a Broadway premiere in 2009.
